Stay up to date with the latest improvements and updates to Benji.
Tags are now displayed by group (if they have one) so the todo sidebar looks a bit more organized.
Now all todo filters and view options are moved in a little popup, instead of being scattered in the header.
There is a new filter for "Filter by points" that allows you to clean up your todo list by hiding todos below certain points.
This way you'll feel the freedom to add anything to your todo list, but if it's not important, it's not going to be visible.
Say hello to the new journaling experience in Benji! 😍
Brand new dashboard that will inspire you to write more.
New and cleaner writing experience!
**Journaling templates! **
Few of them are included from the platform (you can hide them if you want to) and you can create your own.
Encryption
Don't forget that you can encrypt the content of your journal. The encryption icon has been moved to the header. If you set an encryption password, that doesn't automatically encrypt your old journal entries. You can select them (cmd/ctrl click to start selecting) and click "encrypt" if you want to encrypt them.
Another new feature allows you to decrypt your old journal entries by trying to guess the password you used. If you guessed it right, you can decrypt the journal entry, and then encrypt it again with your new password.
Completing on the leaderboard can be a bit of a letdown because everyone has a different number of habits, etc. But competing against yourself? Now that's fun!
In the header you will notice a new little icon that shows your level from 1 to 10. When you click on it, you will see your level for that day. That's right, you're playing this game whether you like it or not 😅
Click on the settings cog to choose your difficulty level and try to gather as many points as you can. You get points by completing habits, pomodoros, todos, logging food, hydration, writing in the journal, etc.
The level resets every day!
Also, Benji has a new YouTube channel with a new video explaining this feature, so make sure to subscribe!
Now you can spawn multiple windows within Benji and easily multitask instead of navigating from page to page.
For now you can right click to open:
You can also use spotlight to open any of these by typing "Open X in a window" (i.e "Open Weight in a window")
You can drag the windows around, resize them, minimize, maximize them, etc.
You can also drag tasks from one project section to another between windows. Wild stuff 😅
Previously, you had to go to "All items" and move items to the "To buy" column before you go in the Shopping view.
Now, you can click on the plus icon to add any item from your other columns directly to "To buy".
You can also create new shopping items on the fly.
Super nifty for quick shopping sessions.
Now you can directly add an item to a kanban column. This works in in every view that has kanban, i.e shopping, projects, recipes, etc.
In the Todo sidebar choose "Weekly" to navigate to the weekly planner.
You can drag from a list of your todos to any day of the week by choosing a slot: Morning, Afternoon, Evening, Night, or Any.
You can also see tasks which are due on a certain day and drag them to plan them on the same, or another day.
Super useful for a quick plan and overview of the week!
If you mark a recipe as public, it will appear on your public Benji profile. You can access your profile by clicking on your profile picture in the header and then clicking on "Profile"
People will be able to bookmark and save your recipes to their own recipe library so they can use them for meal planning etc. They can also leave comments and ratings.
You can organize your recipes with Benji.
For each recipe you can add:
You can also organize your recipes by:
You can enable the Shopping feature from Settings → Features → Shopping. You can add items with emoji and organize them in categories.
When you are at the supermarket you can go to the Shopping tab, to move items from "To buy", "Bought" and "Cannot find" categories.
Now you can do your full meal planning in Benji. You can drag your recipes into meal slots and do a weekly plan.
You can can create many meal plans, share them with different people, and easily toggle them on and off. This is useful if you have a separate meal plan for your pets and your kids.
You can also generate a shopping list from the weekly recipes, and all the items on the shopping list will be moved to the "To buy" column on your shopping list.
The new Benji profiles are here! For now, they will show your:
You can check out an example here.
Now you don't have to do the entire song and dance of going to settings, features, finding the right tab, blah blah blah.
You can press cmd + k (or ctrl + k) to open Spotlight and open any settings for a feature in a Modal.
This way you can see how changes are reflected instantly.
You can now completely disable the daily check in, or choose which steps you want to see. There will also be a new "grid" mode soon which lets you see all the steps at once, instead of clicking through them in a wizard.
Using the Countdowns feature you can see how many days there are left until a certain special date, or an event in your planner.
You can use this for movie/game/show releases, birthdays, special events, etc.
You will see the countdowns in your home page if you enable the Countdowns widget.
If you hold cmd (or ctrl) while clicking a habit, it will mark it as failed. If you hold alt, it will skip it. This way, you can click through your habit list way faster.
The Todos sidebar can be hidden and toggled just like the Planner sidebar. You can also use Cmd + \ to toggle the sidebar.
It's super annoying when you're adding a todo and you want to add a new tag but you gotta exit the todo, go to tags, create the tag, and come back. Now you can create tags on the fly.
You can reorder sections in a project.
You can move todos between groups by dragging and dropping them. This works no matter how you group your todo list (time of day, time block, priority, tag, etc.)
If you edit a contact, you can set a day interval of how often do you want to have an activity with them (this can be a video call, hanging out, or whatever you decide). If you haven't done an activity in that interval, the contact will appear in the contacts widget on the home page to remind you about this person.
You can also pin some contacts permanently so you can see when was the last time you've done an activity with them.
In Settings -> Features you can choose which features do you want pinned in the desktop sidebar, mobile toolbar, or as a widget in the home screen.
Easily duplicate a workout from the past without adding the exercises one by one. The reps will be gone, but everything else will stay and the workout will start.
The journal editor supports rich text.
Life can get hectic, and you might not want to see certain routines in the home widget for a while. Now you can pause and reactivate routines as you please.
You can write your heart out inside of an event's description field. Rich text, italic, lists, todos, whatever floats your boat.
If the field is too small, you can pop it out as a dialog.
You can change the planned date for todos in the Upcoming page. If a todo has both a planned date and a due date, you can choose whether you want to move the planned date or the due date.
Sometimes, you can be overwhelmed by the amount of todos that you have to deal with. Now you can pause some todo lists that you don't want to see for a while.
Similarly to pausing a tag, if you mark a list as paused, the tasks from the list won't show in Overview anymore. The list should be put on the bottom of Lists and greyed out.
The habits screen got a huge revamp! ❤️🔥
Now you can create lists for your habits. This is useful if you have way too many habits and you're trying to organize them in a nicer way.
But habit lists are not only about organizing. Now you can share the habit lists with someone else (i.e a significant other, a roommate, a family member, a friend, etc.) and you can both complete habits on the list.
This is useful if you're taking care of a home, pet, or a child with someone else, and you want to make sure that everything is done.
If you want your habits to disappear as you complete/fail/skip them, you can do that with the new checkbox in the habits sidebar.
Now you can group your habits by:
If you go to the Tomorrow view for your todos, you will also see a section of which todos are due tomorrow, so you can easily plan your day.
Click on the "Upcoming" link in the todos sidebar to see an overview of all the upcoming todos in the next 30 days.
Sometimes you might have an event planned for a day, but it's not confirmed yet. By going to the Extra section in the event, you can mark it as "not confirmed". The event will show half opaque on your calendar with a special border that indicates that the event is not confirmed yet.
Now you can easily reset:
For projects/lists you can press the "Reset" button in their menu.
This feature is useful if you want to do the same project/list/todo again without manually marking all the todos as not complete.
Easily toggle the visibility of all of your planner lists without clicking them one by one.
You can choose the privacy for individual habits. This is useful you want to have a public Benji profile and show off your habits, but still want to keep some of them private, or vice versa.
If you set a start date for a project, the tasks from the project will be hidden from Overview until that date. Also the project won't be visible in the sidebar until then.
You can now switch the cell size in the planner to 5. Because ... why not? Why wouldn't you plan your day in 5 minute intervals?
Here's a feature hot off the press... get it? Hot? Because sauna? Yeah. Now you can track your sauna, infrared sauna, cold plunge, cold shower sessions, etc. You can enable this feature from Settings -> Features.
