Projects in Benji

Organize completable collections of tasks with powerful project management features.

What are Projects?

In Benji, a project is a completable collection of tasks with a clear beginning and end. Unlike ongoing lists, projects are designed to be finished. Examples include "Renovate the living room," "Launch new website," or "Plan summer vacation."

Key Project Features

  • Organize related tasks in one place
  • Track progress with Kanban boards
  • Set start dates and due dates
  • Create linear or parallel project workflows
  • Share and collaborate with others
  • Create templates for recurring project types

Project Status and Kanban Boards

Projects can be in one of three states: "To Do," "In Progress," or "Done." You can manage your projects using a Kanban board view, allowing you to easily visualize your workflow and move projects between states as they progress.

Project Sections

Projects can be divided into sections to better organize complex workflows. For example, a website redesign project might have sections for "Research," "Design," "Development," and "Testing."

Linear vs. Parallel Projects

Benji offers two different project workflow types:

Linear Projects

In linear projects, you work through sections sequentially. Only tasks from the current active section appear in your Overview. This helps you focus on completing one phase before moving to the next.

Example: When renovating a room, you need to complete demolition before starting construction.

Parallel Projects

In parallel projects, all sections are active simultaneously. Tasks from all sections appear in your Overview, allowing you to work on different aspects of the project at the same time.

Example: When planning an event, you can work on venue booking, guest list, and catering simultaneously.

Project sections can also be individually marked as linear or parallel, giving you fine-grained control over your workflow.

Super Important Projects (S.I.P)

You can mark projects as Super Important Projects (S.I.P), which gives them additional priority points. This ensures that tasks from these projects rise to the top of your priority list in the Overview.

Project Templates

For projects you do regularly, you can create templates with predefined sections and tasks. This is perfect for recurring workflows like:

  • Trip planning
  • Event organization
  • Content creation
  • Client onboarding
  • Monthly reporting

When you need to start a new instance of a recurring project, simply select the template and Benji will create a fresh copy with all the predefined sections and tasks.

Collaboration

Projects can be shared with other Benji users, allowing for seamless collaboration. You can assign tasks to specific team members, track progress together, and ensure everyone stays on the same page.
